Capiz census begins Sept. 1

ROXAS CITY—Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Capiz provincial head Frankie Dordas said that the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) for Capiz has begun on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

According to Dordas, to date, all their 848 enumerators have complied with the health protocols as they begin gathering population and housing data in the province from Sept. 1 to 30.

“Enumerators in Roxas City are given 20 households while those in Tapaz are given 14 households target per day,” Dordas said.

He added that the enumerators for the 15 other municipalities are expected to survey at least 16 households daily.

He added that in order to reflect an accurate count, the enumerators will also survey institutional population sources including detention facilities, hospitals and army camps.

PSA also hired 171 team area supervisors and 34 census area supervisors for the month-long census.

Dordas noted that the localized lockdown in some areas could affect the CPH timeline because they strictly abide with the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 and concerned authorities’ policies and directives.

Dordas also asked the support and cooperation of the public for this year’s census.

Per 2015 Census of Population, Capiz has a population of 761,384 with 1.08 annual growth rate. (Alex Lumaque/PIA Capiz)
