Instant Wealth

I invested money I could knowingly lose (and still sleep at night) in Bitcoin years ago, and in our group chat I still see people waiting for their payout for two years-or-so now and getting nada.

When I was asked to join the investment scheme years ago, I bought into the concept that there is virtual coin to mine and earn from.

I was able to withdraw thrice the amount I invested. And then, the stop payout period began. “The wailing and grinding of teeth” was not due to the coming of the Kingdom, but due to monies lost, monies borrowed and lost, monies borrowed with interest and lost, and worst of all, monies gathered by convincing others to join the investment scheme and still lost.

Friendships have been lost forever, family torn apart, marriages broken, homes lost, savings lost, health deteriorated, properties and cars foreclosed, children abandoned, and family and friends have been lost to vices, crime, destitution, and even suicide—all because of these investment schemes that tempt the human greed for material wealth. Instant wealth.

Instant wealth that promises earnings that actually from the invested money of others. And then, the well will dry up because no new investors can be had.

And then the inevitable nightmare begins.

And when you buy into these investment schemes, knowing that you will earn because it is yet in its early stages, bear in mind that your earnings will fund the “friendships lost forever, family torn apart, marriages broken, homes lost, savings lost, health deteriorated, properties and cars foreclosed, children abandoned, and family and friends lost to vices, crime, destitution, and even suicide”.

I have witnessed these personally as specific faces come to mind. Even those who have been burned before continue to succumb to greed’s temptation.

Instant wealth is so irresistible especially to us Filipinos of limited means. But please—try not to be a part of the mechanism that although will earn you sums fast will put the suffering of others on your shoulders.

(Prov 13:11) “Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.” (1Tim 6:7-8)

“For we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.”
