Capiz wins 3 tourism awards

The Province of Capiz emerged as a top winner in the Pearl Awards by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) when it won three separate grand awards.

“These awards bring pride and honor to all Capisnons,” said Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro.

The Capiztahan, the annual celebration of the province’s founding anniversary,  is the Grand Winner of the Best Cultural Festival award for the provincial category. After placing first runner-up in the same category last year, Capiz finally emerged with the grand award this year.

The Province of Capiz is also the Grand Winner for Best Institutionalized Program for Culture and the Arts with Lutong Capisnon, a culinary showcase staged during the annual Capiztahan. The program celebrates traditional Capisnon cuisine, local ingredients, and food preparation methods, further elevating the province’s cultural identity.

The Province of Capiz is also awarded Grand Winner of the Best Tourism-Oriented Local Government Unit (provincial category) for its strong implementation of Turismo sang Maragtas: The Capiz Tourism Development Plan (CTDP) 2024–2028.

Initiated by the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) under Alphonsus “Al” Tesoro,  the CTDP was passed by the Provincial Board and backed by Castro’s administration to address key tourism challenges of Capiz.

“These victories are not only honors for the province, but also a testament to the collective efforts of Capisnons in preserving, celebrating, and promoting their distinct heritage,” added PTCAO in a statement.
