Despite the non-remittance of payment from a barangay in the Municipality of Maayon, the Capiz Electric Cooperative (CAPELCO) assured continuous electrical supply to consumers.
CAPELCO General Manager Engr. Edgar Diaz said residents of Barangay East Villaflores that they do not have to worry as they will still have electricity.
This was after Barangay Power Association (BAPA) collector Maricel Felipe failed to remit the barangay’s payment and claimed the money was robbed by two unidentified suspects last December 5.
CAPELCO is giving consideration to its members-consumers as they are not at fault.
It may be recalled that Felipe was found to have Php 103,000 in non-remittance collections to CAPELCO for the November 2025 billing period.
Before the alleged December 5 robbery incident, CAPELCO already issued a 48-hour warning notice to Felipe and directed her to settle the discrepancy in her recorded collections.
Diaz said the collected amounts did not match CAPELCO’s records of those who paid and those who had not. This prompted verification process to ensure accurate accounting.
Police are also investigating the alleged robbery involving the couple who collected electric bill payments for CAPELCO in Maayon.
The Capiz Times tried to reach Felipe for comment, but she could not be reached.
