More than P18.57 million was distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to tricycle drivers in Roxas City who are experiencing hardship from the fuel crisis caused by the war in the Middle East.
DSWD-6 Assistant Regional Director for Operations Kathernine Joy M. Lamprea led the April 8, 2026 distribution of cash relief assistance (CRA) at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center.
Based on DSWD-6 data, a total of 3,715 tricycle drivers received P5,000 each.
The distribution rate was 96% as there was originally 3,867 tricycle drivers listed. Lamprea noted that only legitimate drivers and members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODAs) were given the CRA.
Roxas City was one of the three pilot areas in Western Visayas. The others were Iloilo City and Passi City, Iloilo.
In total, DSWD-6 distributed more than P40.1 million to three pilot areas for CRA in the region.
Meanwhile, DSWD-6 is preparing for the next phase of the CRA distribution. Lamprea said it will be extended to other towns towns in Capiz province.
