Roxas City @ 75

By Fr. Rey A. Villanoy Jr.

Last May 12, 2026 marked the diamond anniversary of our beloved city since its inception as a chartered city 75 years ago.

I was able to concelebrate during the Thanksgiving Mass that day presided over by Rev. Father Edsel Delfin, rector of the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral.

It was also attended by the officials of the Roxas City government headed by Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and Vice Mayor Teresa Almalbis.

The Capiz Provincial Government was represented by Gov. Fredenil Castro and Vice Gov. James Magbanua.

In his homily, Fr. Delfin exhorted the congregation.

“The future of Roxas City will not only depend on projects, programs, or infrastructure. It will depend on the moral character of its people, especially those entrusted with leadership.”

During the Thanksgiving Mass, Capiz Archbishop Victor Bendico’s message was shared. It echoed Fr. Delfin’s message.

“Seventy-five years is truly a milestone of blessings, memories, sacrifices, and hopes shared by generation. I entrust Roxas City and all its people to the loving protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Patroness of Capiz, and invoke upon everyone God’s abundant blessings,” said theArchbishop in the message that was shared.
