Three individuals have been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Police Captain Rian Fuentes Ampoyos, who was killed inside a KTV bar in Barangay Binuntucan, Pontevedra, Capiz, during the early hours of July 20.

Police Captain Mark Anthony M. Garcia, officer-in-charge of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station (MPS), said murder charges have been filed against alias “Boy”, alias “Juan” and  William Paulino Deocampo.

Aside from murder complaints, the 3  suspects are also facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Garcia clarified that suspect alias “Boy” is the gunman. Contrary to earlier reports, William Paulino Deocampo was not the gunman.

According to Garcia, Deocampo was carrying a firearm during the incident but was unable to fire it. Police said Deocampo was with alias “Boy” and another suspect identified as alias “Juan” while they were drinking inside the establishment before a commotion broke out and escalated into the shooting.

The police said statements from the owner of the KTV bar, its helper, and two responding police officers supported the identification of alias “Boy” as the shooter.

Authorities added that Deocampo later provided information regarding the identities of his two companions.

Meanwhile, alias  “Boy” and alias “Juan” remain at large as authorities continue hot pursuit and manhunt operations to arrest them.

The criminal complaints have been formally filed before the Capiz Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
