The Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) declared the killing of Police Captain Rian Fuentes Ampoyos as “case closed” after the arrest of the 3rd and last suspect.
Colonel David Cachumbo Jr. lauded the October 6, 2026 arrest of suspect Andy Garcia in the Municipality of Dumarao.
Garcia was nabbed in a joint operation led by the 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company and backed by the CPPO Provincial Intelligence Unit and Dumarao Municipal Police Station.
Cachumbo said they were closing in on Garcia after another suspect Leonel Deocampo was arrested in the Municipality of Pontevedra last September 30 by the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company.
To recall, Ampoyos was killed last July 20 when a fight broke out inside a karaoke bar in Pontevedra. He was one of the non-uniformed cops at the karaoke bar when the incident happened.
During that time, one of the three suspects identified as William Deocampo was arrested while Leonel Deocampo and Garcia fled.
The trio are facing a murder charge as well as a violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act when they used an unlicensed firearm in killing the police officer.
Meanwhile, Cachumbo said the road to justice for Ampoyos is nearly complete.
