3ID marks 49th founding anniversary

The Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division commemorated its 49th Founding Anniversary on May 31 at Camp General Macario Peralta Jr. in Jamindan, Capiz.

Themed “Strong, United and Reliable Spearhead @ 49,” the anniversary celebration was graced by Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., the commanding general of the Philippine Army.

The celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving mass.

To pay solemn tribute to the courageous fallen heroes of the Division, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the hallowed grounds of the 3ID Tomb of Unknown Soldiers. Witnessing this event were the families of the fallen heroes and their colleagues.

A highlight of the celebration was the prestigious awards ceremony, which recognized the outstanding units and personnel who showcased exemplary performance for this year.

Brawner also presented the CGPA Streamer awards to 3ID and its infantry brigades and battalions, in recognition of their significant and major accomplishments in their combat operations.

The 303rd Infantry Brigade was honored with a CGPA Significant Engagement Streamer, in addition to five Major Engagement Streamers.

Similarly, the 302nd Infantry Brigades received five CGPA Major Engagement Streamers. Both the 94th Infantry Battalion and the 62nd Infantry Battalion were awarded three CGPA Major Engagement Streamers each, while the 15th Infantry Battalion was bestowed with one CGPA Major Engagement Streamer.

The Division also recognized and honored the deserving officers, enlisted personnel, civilian human resources, reservist, and CAFGU for their outstanding contributions to Division’s campaign.

The Philippine Army also conferred an Army Governance Pathway Institutionalized Status with Gold Trailblazer Award to the 3rd Division Training School.

In his message, Brawner commended all Spearhead troopers for their 49 years of unwavering commitment to duty, as they steadfastly upheld the moniker “Spearhead” or “Tagapanguna.”

“Please know that your continued excellence and dedication to duty will continuously enable not only the 3rd Infantry Division but also the entire Philippine Army to uphold peace and security despite the challenges,” he said.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Marion Sison, commander of the 3ID, expressed his profound gratitude to all personnel for their commitment and sacrifices throughout the years.

He acknowledged the Division’s collective efforts and highlighted the challenges they have overcome, underscoring their readiness to face future endeavors.

“Let us persevere in our endeavors, carrying forward everything we have initiated. Let us cultivate a culture that embraces sound management and an exemplary approach to service. By doing so, we bestow upon ourselves a profound sense of dignity, for in this act, we pay homage to the Philippine Army,” he said. (PR)
