3ID successfully hosts PH-Australia military exercises

The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) successfully hosted this year’s second leg of the Philippines–Australia Army-to-Army Exercise (PAAAE) “KASANGGA: 2025-02”.

The joint military exercises concluded with a November 7, 2025 closing ceremony at 3ID’s headquarters of Camp Peralta in the Municipality of Jamindan.

Army Commander Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete, Brigadier General Michael Logico of the Training and Doctrine Command and Major General Michael Samson of the 3ID were all present.

The three top-brass army officers met with Lieutenant Colonel Noel Young, who is the Australian Assistant Defence Attaché to the Philippines.

According to the 3ID, the month-long military training “strengthened interoperability, enhancing tactical capabilities, and fostering camaraderie between the two allied armies.”

Young said that Australian soldiers have learned from their Filipino counterparts.

“I am confident they [Australians] will all go back as better jungle fighters,” said Young.

“I believe the entire Australian contingent will return as ambassadors of the Philippine Army, eager for future engagements. We came as partners, we leaving as friends,” he said.
