This May 12 elections, almost 400 candidates are wooing more than a half a million registered voters in the Province of Capiz.
According to data of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), there are 539,459 registered voters. They will elect officials of the Capiz Provincial Government, a congressional representative for one of the two districts, and local government units (LGU) officials of the 16 municipalities and Roxas City.
Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Salud Milagros Villanueva said all registered voters in Capiz will have to vote for a governor, a vice governor, Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members, and a congressional representative.
There are 164 candidates in the 1st District of Capiz that consists of the municipalities of Maayon, Panay, Panitan, Pilar, Pontevedra, President Roxas, and Roxas City.
There are 196 candidates in the 2nd District of Capiz that consists of the municipalities of Cuartero, Dao, Dumalag, Dumarao, Ivisan, Jamindan, Mambusao, Sapian, Sigma, and Tapaz.
City Comelec Supervisor Atty. Rommel Benliro said that Roxas City is the only one with mall-voting center in the entire province. Robinsons Roxas will cater to voters of Barangay X.
Meanwhile, election officials are urging voters to take extra precaution with the extreme hot weather forecast for May 12. Voters are urged to bring water and use umbrellas or wear hats.
