Army lauds youth group’s tree planting activity

About 800 cacao seedlings were planted in a tree planting activity organized by the Youth for Peace (YFP)–Tapaz Chapter in collaboration with the Philippine  Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion recently in the vicinity of the Marugo Lake in Brgy. San Antonio in Tapaz town, Capiz.

The greening initiative was participated in by an estimated 100 youngsters and representatives of partner stakeholders from the town-based agencies, offices and groups, a press release from the 301st Civil Military Officer Capt. Hazel Joy Durotan said.

“We have many plans for this youth group. I am glad that despite the pandemic, this activity pushed through, because we know that trees are important during this situation,” said YFP Tapaz Chapter president Harrell Fojas, extending his appreciation to the  Philippine  Army, Philippine National Police, local government unit and fellow youth for the success of the activity.

For his part, 301st Brigade commander Brig. Gen. Marion Sison lauded the youth group for conducting the selfless activity as he also  thanked the municipal government of Tapaz for supporting the YFP advocacies, Durotan said.

“You did not only help the environment but also the future of our generation. May you be an inspiration to other youths in taking care of our environment and become active in the fight against drugs and terrorism,” Sison added.

The activity was also participated in by 12IB Civil Military Operations Officer Lt. Michael Imperial, Municipal Agriculturist Gemma Gallenero, Tapaz Municipal Police Station chief Police Maj.  Leomendo Tayopon, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 602nd Company as well as 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company personnel, Tapaz Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) members and Tapaz Youth Cyclists.
