Angara lauds Roxas City for hosting DepEd’s National Festival of Talents

Secretary Sonny Angara of the Department of Education (DepEd) lauded Roxas City for hosting the National Festival of Talents (NFOT).

“Daghan salamat Mayor Ronnie Dadivas at city government sa pag-host ng 2026 National Festival of Talents!  (Many thanks to Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and the city government for hosting the 2026 National Festival of Talents!),”Angara wrote on his official Facebook page.

The former senator led the April 19, 2026 opening ceremony of NFOT, which brought together students from schools of 18 regions across the country for non-academic competitions.

NFOT’s theme this year is “Embracing Change, Redefining Excellence”.  It focuses on the creativity, resilience and adaptability of students.

“We are not only celebrating artistry, but also give equal value to science and technology, recognizing creativity in all its forms,” Angara said.

“This is truly a celebration of the talents of our youth. Not only this is a competition, but this is something that unlocks potential,” Angara added.

Joining Angara at NFOT opening ceremony were DepEd Undersecretary Peter Irving C. Corvera, DepEd-6 Regional Director Cristito A. Eco, DepEd-6 Assistant Regional Director Miguel Mac D. Aposin, DepEd Capiz Division Superintendent Roel Bermejo, and DepEd Roxas City OIC Division Superintendent Adonis Mosquera.

Angara also took time to meet with other officials in Capiz.

Aside from Mayor Dadivas, Angara also met with Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro, Vice Governor James “Mitang” Magbanua, 1st District Congressman Howard Guinto, and Mayor Dante Eslabon of the  Municipality of Sigma

Angara also enjoyed the seafood buffet as the NFOT opening coincided with the closing of the Capiztahan Festival, the 125th anniversary of the province’s civil government.
