ASIDE from being the commander of the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) of the Philippine Army stationed at Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz, Brig. Gen. Benedict Arevalo was promoted to commander of the Visayas Command which covers the Visayas area including Siquijor, he was also promoted to Lt. General.
Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Andres Centino donned his insignia at the ceremony held at AFP General Headquarters.
He was accorded arrival honors when he arrived at Camp Peralta.
Arevalo is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990.
His previous assignment was deputy chief of staff for Civil-Military Operations, J7.
He was also brigade commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade in Negros Occidental and the 301st Infantry Brigade in Panay.
He was warmly welcomed by officers and enlisted personnel of the 3ID during his arrival as the new commander of Visayas Command.
In his message, Arevalo expressed his sincerest gratitude to all Spearhead troopers for the welcome congratulations rendered to him as the new Visayas Command commander and his promotion.
One of the legacies of Arevalo’s leadership is inspiring and recognizing every Spearhead trooper by giving an award. For him, a person who is always appreciated will do more than what is expected.*
