The son of the late vice mayor Julius Asis is now a Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member of the Municipality of Panay.

Alfred Nash Asis officially became an SB member last May 12, 2026 after Capiz Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro presided his oath of office.

“At 21 years old, I never imagined carrying honor and the weight of continuing the work of a man who dedicated his life to public service,” said SB Asis.

“There were moments I asked myself if I am ready for this. Despite of my youth and inexperience, I am here with sincere heart, willing to learn, willing to serve and willing to continue the values of my father’s life,” expressed SB Asis in his opening address to fellow SB members.

“I do not have all the answers.  I promise I will listen to our people, to work hard and to serve with honesty,” added SB Asis.

The younger Asis  assumed an SB seat after Paolo Besa became the municipal vice mayor after the January 31, 2026 death of his father Julius, who was the then incumbent vice mayor.

Paolo Besa, the top-ranking SB member, officially took his oath of office as vice mayor last February 3, 2026.

Under the Local Government Code of 1991, the highest-ranking member of the municipal council assumes the vice mayoralty seat in case of death or permanent incapacity to prevent a leadership vacuum and ensure the continuity of basic services.

Paolo Besa is the son of incumbent Mayor Jonathan “Sonny” Besa.
