Bigger, Louder Capiztahan 2024

The upcoming Capiztahan 2024 will be “bigger and louder”.
This was the assurance of Capiz Governor Fredenil H. Castro for the festival slated on April
13 – May 1, 2024.
“It will be more entertaining, more pleasant to hear,” said Castro during the recent opening
salvo for Capiztahan 2024 at the Capiz Provincial Capitol.
Attributing the envisioned success to the people and its government officials who he
believes would work as one “regardless of our different political beliefs, ideology, direction
and affiliation,” in the name of Capiz and the Capisnon, Castro expounded the idea of
“oneness”.
Castro cited the example of the successful lighting of the highways for the Paskwa sang
Maragtas that was made possible through the synergized efforts of the barangays, the city,
and municipal local government units and its constituents – denoting that the same
“oneness” is what will bring about a successful Capiztahan.
This was echoed by Jose Nery “Bub” Ong, President of the Maragtas Foundation, a newly-
established organization of stakeholders who will work hand in hand with the Provincial
Government of Capiz to manage the festival.
Ong urged for a real public-private partnership.
“In our joint shoulders, now as public and private stakeholders, rest the responsibility,
expectations and aspirations of Capizeños who expect an even better Capiztahan 2024,”
said Ong.
The Capiztahan is the province-wide celebration of the founding anniversary of the civil
government of the Province of Capiz under the American regime.
In April 2024, it will be its 123rd year founding anniversary. The festival is highly
characterized by socio-cultural, faith-based, and sports competitions. (Capiz Tourism and
