Capitol conducts Covid-19 meetings

ROXAS CITY—The Provincial Government of Capiz through the Provincial Health Unit here recently conducted a series of meetings to prepare for the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19).

According to Dr. Alex Nolasco, PHU head, the province should be prepared even as the number of persons carrying the virus has been increasing.

Following the Department of Health’s declaration of Code Red, Capiz should implement strict control measures.

Nolasco added that last month Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras released an Executive Order on the preparedness, control and response to Covid-19.

Said E.O. details the responsibilities of different agencies but not the creation of a task force. It also stated that the local hospitals must be prepared in case of local transmission.

Nolasco added that their March 10 meeting covered the preparedness of the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital and the Dao District Hospital as backup.

Should cases worsen, Nolasco said that they will resort to provide backup hospitals in other areas.

To date, Nolasco said they recorded 8 cases of Person Under Investigation (PUI) and 87 Person Under Monitoring (PUM).

He also advised that all PUI must be admitted at RMPH while PUM should be quarantined in their homes for 14 days.
