Capiz 1M tree planting project starts

ROXAS CITY — The Capiz provincial government has launched the “1M Kahoy” tree-planting project on June 25.

The project, which was spearheaded by the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, is encouraging Capiznons to plant trees.

In 2020, 1,616,782 seedlings were planted.

Capiz has 25,000 hectares of forest cover, CaPENRO officer Emily Arboleda-Depon said.

To remain ecologically sustainable, the country should have at least 40 percent of forest cover, Depon said.*
