Capiz celebrates 30th Cooperative Month

The 30th Provincial Cooperative Month Celebration was festive, successful, and inspirational, said
Madelyn Alcantara, administrative officer and bookkeeper of Capiz Aquaculture Producers Cooperative
(CAPC).
CAPC is among the 108 cooperatives that participated in the culminating activity of the Cooperative
Month Celebration of Capiz held on October 17 at Jamindan Capiz.
The event was set in motion by a festive parade around Poblacion, Jamindan Capiz.
The parade was headed by the respective leaders of the local government units of the 16 municipalities
and one component city.
The celebration was heightened with the support of the cooperative Development Authority headed by
Provincial Director Proseso Berano Jr., the provincial government leaders headed by Governor Fredenil
Castro, and the local chief executives.
The keynote speech of Senator Imelda Marcos was delivered by her representative, Eliza Romualdes
Valtos. The message centered on the reason for forming cooperatives way back in 1973, when
Presidential Decree 175 was signed into law by the late president Ferdinand Marcos which aimed to
strengthen the cooperatives, especially those who were given the land under the land reform program
The organizers expressed their appreciation to Senator Marcos and to Valdoz for sharing their time with
the cooperatives in Capiz.*
