Capiz, DSWD to collaborate on 1M ‘Kahoy’ project

ROXAS CITY — The Capiz provincial government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will sign a memorandum of agreement for the province’s tree-planting project.

The DSWD-6 through its Climate Change called Risk Resiliency Program–Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (RRP-CCAM)–Disaster Risk Reduction Program has allocated P46 million for the 17,000 beneficiaries in the province.

The beneficiaries would help in the planting and growing of trees from the “1 Million Kahoy” project.

To help capture the air pollution, 170,000 fruit trees would be needed, Vice Governor Jaime Magbanua said on his Facebook page.

The consent for the provincial government to enter into the agreement was approved through the Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution recently.*
