Capiz LGU to build COVID-19 test lab

ROXAS CITY—The Capiz Provincial Government is building its own Covid-19 test laboratory, based on the recently approved ordinance.

The appropriation ordinance amends Ordinance No. 096, series of 2020, entitled “Approving the Supplemental Appropriation in the Provincial Governor’s Office with a Total Amount of Eighteen Million One Hundred Seventy-Five Thousand, Nine Hundred Fifty Pesos (P 18,175,950.00) Intended for RT-PCR Laboratory Reagent/Consumables”.

The request to build a containerized RT-PCR Laboratory and purchasing reagents came from Provincial Administrator Edwin Chinel Monares.

The funds come from the savings from the 2019 Computerization of Tax Assessment & Collection and 2020 Construction of Multi-purpose covered court in Sitio Proper, Barangay Maninang in Sapian town.

The Provincial Health Office and Provincial Governor’s Office assured that in some two months, the RT-PCR laboratory would be there.

The laboratory would be under the management and supervision of Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital. (Ralph John Mijares)
