A total of 550 illegal firearms were voluntarily surrendered by residents in 473 barangays across Capiz.
Colonel David L. Cachumbo Jr. of the Capiz Provincial Police Officer (CPPO) said the voluntary surrender only shows that gun owners are cooperating with the police in preventing crimes related to illegal gun ownership.
Of the total firearms surrendered, 161 were long firearms and 389 were short firearms. These were turned over from various police stations across the province.
These firearms either do not have licenses or are expired.
Meanwhile, CPPO is preparing for the October 5, 2026 visit of Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) Regional Director Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño.
