The Capiz province has a total of 529,079 registered voters for the national and local elections on May 9 this year.
Roxas City, which is the province’s capital, has the greatest number of registered voters at 109,449 and the municipality of Sapian registered the least total of voters at 18,789 from among the 17 local government units in the province based om the records from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor.
The city is composed of 47 barangays while Sapian has only 10 villages.
Also considered as voter-rich towns in the province are Tapaz (36,096), Panay (33,734), Pontevedra (31,457) and Dumarao (31,139).
Capiz is divided into two legislative districts with 280,436 and 248,643 registered voters for the first and second congressional districts, respectively.
Based on the records, COMELEC has clustered 906 precincts out of the 3,084 established precincts in 464 voting centers provincewide. (PIA Capiz)
