The Province of Capiz won big at the 2026 SMVPSF National Poomsae Taekwondo Championships when three young athletes from the Venancio Taekwondo Academy (VTA) took home three gold medals.

Gold medals were awarded to Marms Syrell L. Deocampo for the Junior Blue Belt Division, Noah Zion Alcantara for Elementary Division, and James Niño Ablao Venancio for the High Blue Toddler Division.

The VTA team also took home three bronze medals during the July 5, 2026 tournament at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

The bronze medalists were Joannes Paulus Gabionza, Merishka Rainne Ablao, and Sylvanna Mia Bocala.

Meanwhile, Ayien Drei Aventurado finished sixth in the competition, completing the seven-athlete delegation sent by the VTA.

Poomsae is the technical discipline of taekwondo that emphasizes precision, balance, power, and proper execution of standardized forms rather than direct sparring.

The VTA team credited their achievements to months of disciplined training, perseverance, and determination.

They also encouraged aspiring taekwondo practitioners to remain committed to their goals, emphasizing that consistent practice and patience are essential to improvement.

Special recognition was given to Coach Joven Venancio, whose guidance has helped develop young taekwondo talents in Capiz.
