Visual artist Leo Gali of Panitan town, Capiz recently turned over his painting titled “Feminine Colors” (2021, oil on canvas, 60.96 x 60.96 cm) to the University of Philippines-Visayas Office of Initiatives in Culture and the Arts.
Gali teaches Social Studies and Art at Panitan National High School. Since 2015, he has worked as the editorial cartoonist of Capiz Times.
Aside from having a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree, Gali also studied architectural drafting.
Gali has been actively joining group exhibitions in Metro Manila and Davao at venues like the GSIS Museum and UP Diliman’s Bulwagan ng Dangal. He recently became part of “Damgo,” an exhibition of artworks by artists from Capiz, which opened on November 8 at Museo Iloilo.
In 2018, his entry was shortlisted in the GSIS National Painting Competition.
Gali is a member of Himbon Contemporary Ilonggo Artists Group, one of the most active artist groups in Iloilo City.*
