Capiznon soldier in Sulu honored

ROXAS CITY — A Capiznon who has been serving in Sulu was honored by the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division on its women empowerment campaign.

1Lt Hannah May Diva was recently awarded the Bronze Cross Medal for risking her life while on duty.

According to the 11th ID, Diva led many combat-related operations which include reinforcements, convoy security, and clearing operations, and leading the army’s armored vehicles.

“I know that our job is currently dominated by men but it doesn’t mean there’s no room for a woman to lead and serve the country,” Diva said.

Diva finished a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education major in Music Arts, Physical Education and Health at Capiz State University.

She joined the Reserve Officer Training Course (ROTC) to develop her skill set.

She then joined the Candidate Soldier Course and took the Officer Preparatory Course Class 67-2016 at the Philippine Army’s Officer Candidate School, Training and Doctrine Command.*
