Capiz’s Villagracia sets new Philippine record

Capiz’s very own Angel B. Villagracia has set a new Philippine record in the 100-meter dash of under 20-year-old athletes with a time of 12.22 seconds during the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2006 in Passi City, Iloilo last week.

The 18-year-old athlete from Brgy. Sulo of the Municipality of Pontevedra and a student of Capiz National High School (CNHS) is exiting WVRAA Meet this year as its  most bemedaled athlete.

Villagracia took home four gold medals: three individual medals and a medal for a relay team.

Villagracia not only won gold in the 100-meter dash, but also clinched gold in the  200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, and the 4 x 1 relay.

With this, Villagracia is going to represent Western Visayas in this year’s Palarong Pambansa in Agusan del Sur.

Villagracia’s victory is not only a personal feat, but also a feat shared by her parents, her coaches, her school, and the entire province of Capiz that she represents.
