Capiztahan scales down with budget cut of P10M

The Provincial Government of Capiz is scaling down this year’s Capiztahan Festival with a P10-million budget cut as part of the austerity measures due to the worldwide crisis caused by the Middle East War.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Arthur  Binas said the administration of Governor Fredenil Castro is keen on conserving energy following the national emergency declaration by Malacañang.

Provincial Budget Officer Antonio Arbis said that the original budget of P54 million has been slashed to P44 million.

Provincial Tourism Officer Alphonsus “Al” Tesoro explained that several major activities have been canceled due to their high fuel consumption. These include the Tagbuanay and the float parades that are originally scheduled on April 17-18.

The entertainment by guests artists will go on as scheduled. Lawyer Luvim Amores, chief of the Provincial Information Office (PIO) and Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), said bookings for transportation and accommodation have been made prior to the fuel crisis.

Organizers also adjusted the festival venue, with most activities now set to take place in front of the new Capitol Building in Pueblo de Panay.

Meanwhile, officials assured the spirit of Capiztahan remains intact with activities still aimed at celebrating the province’s rich culture and heritage.
