Cardinal Advincula to assume as Manila archbishop on June 24

ROXAS CITY – Cardinal Jose Advincula will assume his post as the Archbishop of Manila on June 24.

He will be joined by other bishops and Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown during the mass, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines announced recently.

In observance of the government’s health protocols, a physically distanced mass would be celebrated.

The celebration will also be aired on the Catholic TV channel, TV Maria.

On March 25, Advincula was appointed as the new Manila archbishop by Pope Francis.

The post was vacated for over a year following the assignment of Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle to the Vatican as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.*
