COVID-19 lab now PhilHealth accredited

ROXAS CITY — The Roxas City Diagnostic and Laboratory Center, the first coronavirus disease (COVID-19) laboratory in the Capiz province, is now accredited by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) as a diagnostic service provider.

Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said he got the confirmation from Atty. Valerie Anne Hollero, regional vice president of PhilHealth in Western Visayas.

The accreditation is until December 31, 2020.

Dadivas said that the accreditation of the laboratory would help lessen the city government’s expenses on its free reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests for high-risk contacts of COVID-19 patients, as well as those who are in the government and the private sector to comply with the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines.

Moreover, the mayor said that the city government would undergo an orientation from PhilHealth regarding the scope of the accreditation.

The RT-PCR lab in Barangay Milibili was inaugurated on October 20.

The DOH recently gave the laboratory a 100 percent proficiency rate.*
