Criminal records surface vs ex-cop in Pilar robbery

A dismissed Ilonggo police officer allegedly involved in the P3.1-million robbery in the
Municipality of Pilar last January 5, 2025 has a string of criminal records.

Information from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) revealed that ex-cop Lyman John
Cabrera Ochenta already had warrants of arrests prior to his group robbing three employees of
Coca-Cola Philippines.

Prior to the January 5 heist, Ochenta was allegedly involved in a robbery and homicide in the
resort island of Sicogon in Carles, Iloilo last September 2022.

Ochenta is also linked to a P1-million robbery in Sara, Iloilo.

With Ochenta’s alleged involvement in the Pilar robbery, the Capiz Police Provincial Office
(CPPO) is closely coordinating with the IPPO.

Capiz police chief Colonel Albert Tapulao said it was Ochenta who was one of the suspects who
pretended to be police officers during the daylight robbery.

Ochenta and two others were seen wearing police athletic uniforms when the group robbed the
collectors of the soda company.

Captain Merry Chris Dela Cruz, chief of the CPPO’s Public Information Office (PIO), said
charges of robbery have been filed against the identified suspects.

Ochenta was dismissed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) last September 2017 after he
was found guilty of grave irregularity in the performance of duty.  (KJ)
