Da Nang, Vietnam

By Fr. Rey Villanoy

After my 10-day trip to Great Britain, I ended up in this quaint but progressive city by the Han River in the middle part of Vietnam. Because the city practically makes use of the bridges that connect its districts, it is nicknamed as the “City of Bridges”.

Could this be my final visit here in this country—the so called “Land of the Blue Dragon”?

After all, I’ve been to its two more important cities both in the southern part: Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) and the northern part Hanoi. Although I know there are other places worth visiting in Vietnam! Yes, even its islands. Well, only time could tell.

Just like in my other articles on my travels, I prefer to write short ones. Just enough for a quick read column. Never mind if there are many things to write about those travels. Perhaps, only the most interesting ones.

The most popular here in Da Nang is the Sun City, which nestled atop the Ba Na hills of 1,487 meters and accessible by a hundred or so of cable cars—a system reputed to be the longest and most extensive the world.  It is a huge complex of attractions, rides, restaurants and what have you. There is even a 400-room hotel. It boasts of its place as “a place where everyone could enjoy”. Indeed, it is for everyone.
