A HYBRID water-resistant rice variety will be adopted by the municipality of Dao,
Mayor Jimbo Baruelo said.
Baruelo said this new palay variety is also good in upland farming and can harvest up to 150 cavans
per hectare, and is not easily affected by a calamity like flood and typhoon.
This can stand against bad weather because its roots are penetrating downward so it can hold the rice stalk, he added.
Rice and other farm products will be exhibited in Dao to adopt water resistant rice variety Dao during the Farmers’ Day Festival on September 20.*
