Different political views

Politics has always been a topic that divides people, but at the heart of it all, we’re still living in the same country, facing the same struggles, and hoping for a better future. Whether it’s about the war on drugs, the leaders we support, or the policies we believe in, one thing is clear, people will always have different perspectives.

When we talk about the war on drugs, it’s impossible not to acknowledge the lives lost, both of those who were addicted and those who became victims of crimes related to drugs.

Some believe that former President Duterte’s iron-fisted approach was necessary to cleanse the streets and restore order. Others see it as a brutal campaign that left too many dead without due process. The pain cuts deep on both sides. Families of addicts mourn their loved ones, questioning whether they deserved death rather than rehabilitation. On the other hand, victims of drug-related crimes—those robbed, assaulted, or killed—leave behind families who demand justice.

So, who is right? Who is wrong? The reality is, no matter which side you lean toward, suffering exists. It’s easy to debate policies and governance from a distance, but it’s different when you’re the one burying a loved one.

Duterte’s time in office was defined by strong leadership, strict policies, and an aggressive stance against crime. Supporters admire his decisiveness, believing he made the country safer. Critics argue that his leadership encouraged violence and disregarded human rights. The truth probably lies somewhere in between. Some communities felt safer, while others lived in fear.

Now, under President Bongbong Marcos, the nation watches closely. His leadership is different from Duterte’s. Less aggressive, more diplomatic. Some appreciate his focus on economy and infrastructure, while others question his leadership decisions. Time will tell if his approach leads to real progress or if history will repeat itself.

At the end of the day, political beliefs don’t define a person’s worth. We all have different realities shaping our views. Instead of attacking each other online, maybe it’s better to simply disengage. If a conversation only leads to stress, there’s no shame in muting, unfollowing, or blocking. Peace of mind is worth more than winning an argument.

Differences in opinion will always exist, but respect is a choice we can all make.
