Roxas City has officially unveiled its redeveloped Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center (DRCC), marking a major
milestone for one of the city’s most historic and well-loved public venues. The fully air-conditioned,
modernized, and world-class facility was blessed and opened to the public this week, more than three
decades after it first rose under the late Congressman Dinggoy Roxas in 1992.
City officials, joined by members of the Roxas family represented by Paolo Roxas and Luis Roxas-Ojeda,
led the reopening ceremony of the civic center, which has witnessed some of the most memorable
events in the city’s history. The center’s redevelopment is seen as a symbolic renewal of Roxas City’s
commitment to providing top-tier public infrastructure for its residents.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas expressed gratitude to Uswag Ilonggo Party-list and its representative, Cong. Jojo
Ang, for supporting the redevelopment project, calling it a “shared achievement” for the people of
Roxas City. He also lauded the Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Vice Mayor Inday Teresa Almalbis, for
backing the initiative.
Under the administration’s “Bigger, Better, and Brighter Roxas City” development thrust, the
refurbished DRCC now boasts expanded capacity and upgraded amenities. The ground floor features a
spacious lobby and movable, retractable bleachers with a seating capacity of 1,440 and a standing
capacity of more than 3,000.
The second level houses VIP rooms, a central control room, balcony, and snack bar, while the third level
contains the mechanical room. The center is equipped with a centralized air-conditioning system and an
Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) to ensure uninterrupted power supply during brownouts.
Mayor Dadivas also highlighted the installation of a world-class lighting system tailored for a wide range
of events—from competitive sports and concerts to large conventions and cultural showcases.
Before its redevelopment, the DRCC served as host to major events, including the outreach concert of
the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) in January 2024. The mayor said the upgraded facility is
expected to attract more national-level activities and provide a more comfortable and versatile venue
for residents and visitors alike.
