DTI-6 grants safety seal to 235 establishments

A total of 235 establishments found compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government in the different provinces across Western Visayas wew already issued “Safety Seal” by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)  6 as of October 31 this year.

DTI 6 Industry Development Division OIC Chief Mary Jade Gonzales said these establishments also use or integrate the mobile app “StaySafe.ph” for its contact tracing.

Gonzales said the Safety Seal Certification program is a special project of DTI in line with the Inter-Agency Task Force coronavirus response to assure the public of establishments’ compliance with minimum public health standards and encourage the adoption of the StaySafe.ph to strengthen the contract tracing initiative of the government so that the economy may be safely reopened.

The DTI 6 data showed that 87 establishments in Iloilo province have already received their Safety Seals, also, 87  in Negros Occidental, 23 in Antique, 18 in Aklan, 15 in Capiz and five in Guimaras.

Gonzales said the implementation of the Safety Seal Certification program is in partnership with the other government agencies and establishments covered by DTI are supermarkets, convenience stores, membership shopping clubs, construction supply/hardware stores, logistics service providers, barbershops and salons, and service and repair shops.

The application for the Safety Seal is free and renewable for six months except for tourism enterprises where the seal is valid for one year.

The Safety Seal Certification program is one of the major programs and projects of  DTI for MSMEs presented by Gonzales during the November 10 episode of the Dagyaw 2021 Open Government virtual town hall meeting, a virtual dialogue that aims to engage citizens with the government to learn more about its initiatives and programs.
