The P1.25-billion Panitan Energy Storage Project (PESP) in the Municipality of Panitan has undergone mechanical completion and is being prepared for commercial operation.
EcoSolar Energy Corp. (ESEC) of the Yuchengo group completed the 40-megawatt (40-MW) PESP, which will become the first battery energy storage system (BESS) in Capiz.
Once operational, the PESP is expected to serve as an energy reserve that can help stabilize the Visayas power grid, and reduce the impact of power interruptions.
For ESEC, the PESP is part of its expansion that will integrate renewable energy into Capiz.
According to ESEC President Francisco G. Delfin Jr., PESP will complement the planned 90-MW Panitan Solar Power Project.
The PESP was facilitated by the Capiz Provincial Government as an investment program under the administration of Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro. Specifically, the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (PEDIPO) headed by Rio Garcia partnered with ESEC.
The July 23, 2026 mechanical completion ceremony was attended by Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Mario C. Marasigan, Vice Governor James Magbanua, Panitan Mayor Katherine Dequiña-Belo, Vice Mayor Atty. Audie Advincula, and Barangay Timpas officials led by Barangay Captain Teody Degones.
