Footnote to history

Manuel Acuña Roxas—the illustrious son of Capiz—rose to the nation’s highest office as the first President of the Third Republic of the Philippines on July 4, 1946 when the country gained independence from the United States.

Doña Rosario Acuña once admitted that she never imagined her son would one day become President of the Philippines.

Wala ako magdamgo nga si Manoling mangin pangulo sang iya nga banwa sa pila ka adlaw.” she wrote in an article published by Almanaque Panayana in 1947.
