GK, Circulo Capizeño of Melbourne’s medical missions

Gawad Kalinga (GK) and the Circulo Capizeño of Melbourne Inc. (CCMI) recently conducted a series of medical missions in Capiz.

The February 10-13, 2025 medical missions of GK and CMMI benefited a total of 3,024 residents from the capital of Roxas City as well as the municipalities of Dao, Maayon and Panay. 

The GK in Capiz headed by Jessica Ortiz Yu partnered for the fourth time with the CCMI, who are Capizeño migrants of Melbourne, Australia. 

The CCMI team composed of Terry Apines, Elaine Soriano, Mila Cichello, Alma de los Reyes, Stephen de los Reyes, Cora Biclar, Benson Biclar, Lorenzo Alba, Carmelino Ybañez, Mary Ann Alba, Vivian Badiola, Lucky Espiritu, Jay Biclar, Glenn Biclar, Sasha Espiitu, and David Tran.

This year’s medical mission was in collaboration with Capiz Lioness Lions Club, the Hunter Peace Makers, Red Cross-Capiz Chapter, Capiz Provincial Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, 12th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, and the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company under the Capiz Police Provincial Office. 

The GK is a non-government organization (NGO) that has been facilitating community development activities in the province of Capiz. 

These community development activities include building of houses for the homeless, feeding program for the undernourished and malnourished children, values formation, gulayan sa barangay, and medical missions.
