Congressman Howard Guintu of Pinuno Party-list is proposing to construct a public terminal adjacent to the new public market of Pilar.
“For a successful public market, a large terminal is also needed,” Guintu said during the January 29, 2025 groundbreaking ceremony for the new site of the public market in Sitio Baluk, Barangay Rosario.
According to Guintu, a terminal adjacent to the public market will be a way to reduce transportation costs of Pilar residents travelling to neighboring towns or even Roxas City.
Guintu said he wants Ceres and point-to-point (P2P) buses to operate in the new terminal for easy access.
The congressional candidate for the 1st District of Capiz also noted that the new public market and terminal are crucial not only for the town’s future commercial hub.
Guintu said the new site for the public market and the eventual terminal will also become a hub for satellite offices of government agencies.
Meanwhile, Guintu disclosed that the first phase of the terminal project would cost around P15 million.
