A young lawyer with roots in Roxas City, Capiz has stepped into the national spotlight as part of the legal team defending Vice President Sara Duterte in the Senate impeachment trial.
At 30-years-old, Atty. Miguel Carlos “Mico” Albar Fernandez is the youngest in the 16-member defense panel appearing before the Senate impeachment court.

Capiz’s roots is traced on his mother’s side.
The maternal grandfather of Fernandez is the late Leonardo Barrios Albar, a former assistant commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). He is also the nephew of former Roxas City councilor Ramon “Monchit” A. Albar.
Fernandez’s role in the Vice President’s defense team has been warmly received by relatives, colleagues, and fellow Capiceños, who regard his participation in the high-profile impeachment proceedings as a testament to the growing contribution of young professionals from Capiz to the country’s legal profession and public service.
Fernandez is an associate at Fortun Narvasa & Salazar Law Offices. He practices corporate law; litigation and dispute resolution; and taxation.
Fernandez graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the Philippines Diliman (UP Diliman) and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University.
Fernandez passed the bar and became a lawyer only last year.
Aside from his legal profession, Fernandez is also a musician. He is the founding member and former lead guitarist of the band Lola Amour.
