The Western Visayas regional office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO-6) has lauded the Municipality of Sigma for its implementation of a landmark speed limit ordinance.

“This proactive partnership between technology and enforcement is key to reducing accidents and saving lives,” said LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan.

This was after LTO-6 held a joint committee hearing with the Capiz Provincial Government at the Provincial Capitol in Roxas City to discuss Municipal Ordinance No. 05-S-2024, which sets speed limits and penalties for all vehicles traveling through Sigma.

The ordinance that has been implemented since June 1, 2025 aims to enhance road safety and reduce traffic-related incidents.

Sigma is the first municipality in Western Visayas to enforce 24/7 speed-enforcement cameras in three barangays: Pari-an, Dayhagon and Tawog.

Geduspan expressed full support for the ordinance and cited that it is line with the road safety campaign of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu said the initiative sets a progressive benchmark in traffic management and road safety for other municipalities in Western Visayas to follow.

“This is not just a local ordinance—it’s a model of innovation and public safety that we hope will inspire similar efforts throughout the region,” Conlu said.

“This collaboration reflects a unified approach to safer roads—national leadership supporting local innovation,” Conlu added.
