ROXAS CITY—Majority of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)- Capiz chapter members approved the 14-day moratorium on letting repatriates return to Capiz, Capiz Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras said.
The same is subject to the approval of the Interagency Taskforce (IATF), Contreras added, per cellphone interview Sept. 5.
According to Contreras, this is the provincial IATF’s response to the request of the Capiz Medical Society to have a 14-day moratorium on allowing Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs), Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF), and Authorized Persons outside Residence (APOR).
A recent teleconference also discussed the said matter.
To date, the Roxas City government had their request approved by the IATF beforehand.
Contreras said there were members of the league that don’t believe that the repatriates were causing the spike in cases.
The governor added that members who had such opinions cited that the cause of local transmission was not the repatriates but the case at the fishing port which was not contained and the individuals coming to Capiz from the neighboring provinces.
The repatriates would go directly to the quarantine facilities and get tested, Contreras said. (Ralph John Mijares)
