MECQ extended in Roxas City

ROXAS CITY — The Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) status of Roxas City has been extended for 15 more days, from June 15 to June 30.

This after the Regional Interagency Task Force (RIATF) approved the request of the city government for an extension.

He added, “may 41.41 percent nga positivity rate ang syudad. Mas mataas kun ikumparar sa 8% positivity rate sang NCR (National Capital Region).”

From May to June 15, 28 people have died of Covid-19.

Patients in critical conditions have a complicated situation because of the lack of beds, medical equipment, and medicine, Dadivas added.

The two-week MECQ in early June was insufficient to decrease the number of COVID-19 cases, he said.

“Ang mga nagpositibo subong amo ang mga tawo nga nalatnan antes pa madeklarar ang MECQ sang Hunyo 1 bangud ang incubation period sang Covid naglab-ot sang duha ka semana kag ang pag-ayo nagakinahanglan man sang 14 diyas,” Dadivas said.

Dadivas pointed out that many people still do not follow the health protocols such as wearing of face masks and shields.

From June 1 to 15, 1,051 people were apprehended due to not wearing face masks and face shields.

Most of them are repeat offenders especially in the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center, Dadivas said.

Meanwhile, Dadivas said that the rice distribution and assistance for barangay frontliners and families affected by lockdown continues.

Aid for industry employees such as those working in restaurants, salons, tourist sites, and hospitality businesses will also be rolled out, he added.

Tricycle drivers and street vendors at Burgis St., People’s Park, and others will also get help, Dadivas said.
