MOA for ‘Tsip Makakalikasan,’ 1M ‘Kahoy’ project signed

The Capiz Provincial Police Office and the provincial government of Capiz have signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementation of “Tagapagtanggol ng Sambayan, Itataguyod ang Proyektong Makakalikasan” and “1M Kahoy” projects at Brgy. Lanot, Roxas City recently.

The MOA was signed by Governor Esteban Evan Contreras for the provincial government and Col. Laudemer Llaneta, acting provincial police director.

The project aims for the police to create unique best practices that will promote cross-agency coordination, enforce environmental laws such as illegal logging, illegal, unregulated, and unreported fishing, illegal dumping of solid waste, and illegal quarrying, boost information drive on the environmental issues and awareness, intensify reforestation efforts in support to the “1M Kahoy” project by identifying and rehabilitating deforested areas caused by “kaingin” and illegal loggings and restore and rehabilitate mangrove habitats and coastal areas.

The agreement was said to be another milestone for the province to achieve its goals for sustainability, resiliency, and a balanced ecology.

With the police as an ally, there will be a balance between program implementation and enforcement of laws to harmonize the efforts on the conservation, protection, and restoration of the environment.*
