Mobile rice mill launched

ROXAS CITY — The “Bulilit Arocera” program, a mobile rice mill, was launched recently to help the rice farmers.

Under the program, a resident can have their sack of unhusked rice milled at the rolling rice mill, which was attached to a vehicle.

Board Member Eleuper Martinez said this is free and that the vehicle will roam around the Second District.

He said there is a plan to increase the number of rolling rice mills to 10 and to expand its coverage around the province.

The project is done in lieu of the Rice Tariffication Law to help local farmers compete against foreign rice producers.*
