MRWD targets to lower non-revenue water losses

THE Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) here is conducting an intensified operation to initially lower down by 10 percent its non-revenue water (NRW) losses and increase the water supply that may be rerouted to areas in need of it. MRWD acting general manager lawyer Dante Arcangeles, during the July
25 episode of the Roxas City government’s online program, said that the NRW is either due to physical leakages or commercial losses like defective as well as unread water meters and unclassifi ed service connections, among others.

“Our MRWD produces 40,000 cubic meters of water a day and we don’t want that part of it will just go to leakages or unbilled water in the distribution system,” he stressed, adding that the NRW accounts to 36 percent of the total daily production.

Arcangeles also said that the needed spare parts to operationalize a generator set at the water treatment plant in Brgy. Salocon in Panitan town has arrived and is expected to help in the uninterrupted water service delivery of the water district by August this year.

“We are planning to have another standby generator set to be able to supply water among our consumers even during power outages,” he stressed.
