New 3ID commander urges CTGs to surrender

NEWLY installed 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) commander Brig. Gen. Marion Sison has
offered the remaining active members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) for a
peaceful negotiation thru local peace dialogue engagement.

“We are encouraging you to return back to the folds of the law and enjoy the benefit from the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program
(E-CLIP),” he said.

Sison officially assumed the post as 3ID commander in a Change of Command Ceremony, Feb. 26, that was presided by
Philippine Army commanding general Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr. at the grandstand of the Division Headquarters in
Camp Gen. Macario Peralta, Jr. in Jamindan town.

“We can be friends, but for those who insist on doing terrorism, I can be your worst nightmare for the rest of your lives,” he stressed, adding that the 3ID has done an excellent job of enhancing the region’s
security condition with the series of CTG neutralizations and surrender of leaders and members.

At least 75 government initiated encounters were conducted by the 3ID spearhead troopers during the stint of
Sison’s predecessor, Lt. Gen. Benedict Arevalo who is now the Army’s Visayas Command commander.

Sison also emphasized the need to strengthen the Task Force to End Local
Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) thru the support of the local government units as a “best solution” to end the insurgency problem.

He said the Division will continue to be loved by the people and feared by the enemy.
