ROXAS CITY — There is no shortlist yet for the new Capiz archbishop.
Outgoing Capiz archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula Jr. is set to head the Manila archdiocese on June 24.
The decision for his replacement would come from Pope Francis, Capiz Archdiocese spokesperson Fr. Emilio Arbatin said, adding there is no specific timeframe or criteria.
The possible candidates are chosen by the bishop and background checks would be done on the possible replacements, Arbatin said.
The process of searching for the next Archbishop could take as long as months or years, he said.
However, the Board of Consultants can elect a Diocesan Administrator so someone can still run the Archdiocese, Arbatin said.*
