
A female remnant of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in an encounter with troops of the Army’s 61st Infantry Battalion (61 IB) last September 13, 2025 in the Municipality of Tapaz.
The fatality was identified as Christine May Capaducio. She was also known by her aliases of “Sheryl”, “Elsa”, “Paday”, and “Isa”.
The clash occurred in Sitio Naatip, Barangay Lahug during an operation by 61 IB troops after receiving tips from local residents regarding the presence of armed remnants of the NPA’s Komiteng Rehiyon–Panay (KR-Panay).
It was former rebels who previously served with her who confirmed that she served as platoon medic of the dismantled NPA’s KR-Panay regional headquarters/
Troops seized an M16 rifle and several personal belongings from her possession.
Capaducio’s identity and active involvement in the armed movement were verified through intelligence reports and corroborated by testimonies from former NPA who have since returned to the folds of the law.
She is also known to be the daughter of Lucia Capaducio, the current chairperson of Paghugpong sang mga Mangunguma sa Panay kag Guimaras (PAMANGGAS).
Major General Michael G. Samson, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID), commended the vigilance of the local community and the swift action of government forces.
“This successful operation is a testament to the growing cooperation between our troops and the people. It sends a clear message that the remnants of the NPA have no place to hide,” Samson said. (Army 3ID/DPAO)
